Harriet Graham

Harriet was brought up on Dartmoor in Devon where she rode from a very early age. Her mother was a very successful Point-to-Point trainer and also held a Trainers Permit.

When Harriet moved to Scotland in 1989, she had the chance to train for herself, starting with one Point-to-Pointer in 1993 which won in its first season. Harriet rode herself in Point-to-Points in Devon and the North and she also Evented and Team Chased.

In 1997, she took out her own Trainer's Permit in order to run some of her Point-to-Pointers Under Rules. In 2001, she had her first win Under Rules with Rosalyons and ended up with 6 wins that season. In April 2004, she took out a full Training Licence and sent out her first winner as a professional in October 2004.

Harriet is also a freelance TV director for Channel 4 Racing, At The Races and Racing UK. This gives her an in depth knowledge of horses, jockeys and racing tactics which helps us to place horses, find up an coming jockeys and decide on race tactics in a particular race.

Rob Graham - Assistant Trainer

Married to Harriet for over 20 years, he has helped Harriet train horses since 1993. He helps with everything from mucking out to riding and does all the administration work, race planning and website maintenance. He was one of the first to attend the BHB Racehorse Management course at the British Racing School in Newmarket in 1997 as part of the process of obtaining our Jockey Club Permit.

He has a degree in Chemistry and has also worked in the IT and Financial Services industries since 1983.

Fiona Gillie - Head Lass

Fiona has worked with horses since 1989. She worked as a stable lass for trainer Dick Allen and produced horses for the show ring and eventing. She has worked for us since 1999. She always turns the horses out beautifully and has won numerous 'best turned out' awards which, contrary to superstition, does not mean that the horse then loses!

Marjorie Renwick - Travelling Head Lass

Marjorie has worked with horses all her life. She ran her own livery business for 10 years and is well known and respected in the Borders for her knowledge and skill with horses.

Garry Whillans - Schooling Jockey

Gary comes up to us regularly to school and also rides most of our horses in races. He has won several races for us so far and is a very useful 7lb clamer.

Steve Turnbull - Work Rider

Steve is our amateur jockey and rides work regularly for us and has helped to break in some of the youngsters. He also works on the starting stalls at racecourses during the Summer. He had his first ride in public in October 2006 and was 2nd in his second ride. He has also took on our old timer Harry Hooly to ride in Point-to-Points and won a race at Friars Haugh on him.
